The Blue notes, a women's singing group of community volunteers from Darien and nearby towns has joined the DCA family. The Blue Notes perform a wide variety of music...from country to show tunes...big band sounds to Latin rhythms, under the direction of noted area musician, Ted Simons of Westport. The twenty-five member group sings in four-part harmony with instrumental accompaniment. The original group made its debut as the Juinor League Glee Club in 1951 when eight enthusiastic singers gathered around a piano in Stamford and began to harmonize. Their purpose, to provide joy through music to people of all ages, has remained the same throughout the years.

Each year the Blue Notes entertain audiences of senior associations, nursing homes, various community, service and church groups throughout Fairfield County. The musical repertoire of the group includes nostalgic, Broadway and current tunes. Performances offer musical therapy and musical appreciation and audience participation is always encouraged.

COME SING WITH US!

THE BLUE NOTES

WHO WE ARE:
The Blue Notes is a group of women who volunteer to bring the joy of music to the community both as a form of entertainment and as a form of therapy. The Blue Notes has been part of the Darien Community Association since 2004. We take pride in providing high quality entertainment and enjoyment to our audiences, who ask us back year after year to sing.

All Blue Notes members are DCA members and come from Pound Ridge, Norwalk, Darien, New Canaan, and Westport. Members of the Blue Notes are devoted to music, our audiences and to each other. We all have the love of song in common and our days are made happier when we see the toes tapping and smiles on the faces of our audiences. We sing in four-part harmony and much of our music is original arrangements of well-known songs. We are indebted to noted area musician Ted Simons for many of our musical arrangements. Every year we take a few new members; of the 24 women in the group, more than half have been singing with the Blue Notes for over 10 years. Why do we keep on doing it? It's fun and rewarding!.

OUR AUDIENCES:
The Blue Notes perform primarily for senior groups in senior centers, assisted living facilities and nursing/rehab facilities. We also sing for other community organizations and special events when requested.

WHEN WE MEET:
§ Tuesdays from 12:30 to 2:30 during the school year.
§ Rehearsals are at the Darien Community Association (DCA).
§ Performance times are generally on Tuesdays at lunch time, but can vary, especially during the Christmas holidays

Please come and join the Blue Notes family. It is a wonderful way to have fun, to give back to your community, enrich lives and make new friends.
